Registrar - Mr. Tendani Mabuda
Appointed 1 July 2010
Mr. Tendani Mabuda was appointed as the Registrar of South African Nursing Council with
effect from 1 July 2010. He completed a Diploma and Basic Nursing training at
Venda Nursing College in 1991. He started his professional career as a
registered nurse at Siloam hospital, and then he worked as an educator in
Limpopo College of Nursing. He was a Manager and Deputy Manager in Nursing at
George Masebe and Tshilidzini hospitals respectively.
Mr. Mabuda pursued his studies at UNISA and obtained a B Cur Degree in 1998 and Masters in
Health Sciences in 2006. He also acquired a variety of other courses which
equipped him in management and leadership skills.
Upon his appointment, he was a Director in Nursing Services for the Western Cape
Provincial Department of Health where his main responsibility was to provide
strategic leadership within the Nursing Services Directorate.

Senior Manager: Projects Coordination - Ms. Thandi Manganye
Appointed 1 June 2010
Ms. Thandi Manganye was
appointed as the Senior Manager: Projects Coordination with effect from 1
June 2010.
Ms. Manganye is registered
with the South African Nursing Council
as a general nurse, midwife, nurse educator and administrator.
Before joining SANC, she was
employed by the National Department of Health as a Deputy Director dealing
with professional affairs including nursing education and practice at
national and international spheres.
Ms. Manganye served as a
member of the South African Nursing Council for a period of 9 years. |

Senior Manager: Education and Training - Prof. Fikile Mtshali
Appointed 1 June 2010
Professor Fikile Mtshali was
appointed by South African Nursing Council
with effect from 1 June 2010. She holds a diploma in Nursing and
Midwifery (Edendale College of Nursing), B Cur Degree and Honors Degree in
Nursing Education (UNISA), Masters Degree and PhD in Nursing (UKZN).
Her area of specialization is nursing education. Professor
Mtshali has worked as a professional nurse and a nurse educator in a
number of institutions.
Professor Mtshali served as a
Deputy Head of School and coordinator of a postgraduate programme at the
University of KwaZulu-Natal before joining SANC. She has published a
number of articles and chapters in nursing education books.
Professor Mtshali has also contributed significantly in the development of
nursing and midwifery education in Africa as part of her World Health
Organization assignments. |

Professional Officer - Ms. Sizani Ndlazi
Appointed 1 July 2010
Ms. Sizani Ndlazi was appointed as
Professional Officer with effect from 1 July 2010. She completed her
Basic Nursing Training at Sebokeng Nursing College and then Kangwane
Nursing College in Nelspruit in 1990.
Ms. Ndlazi worked as a registered
nurse at Themba Hospital. In 1997 she pursued her studies and
obtained a B Cur Degree at the University of Limpopo.
From 2001 to June 2010, Ms. Ndlazi worked as a
nurse educator at Edendale Nursing College. In 2004 she obtained a
Diploma in Project Management with Varsity College and in 2006 she
obtained a Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment,
Treatment and Care with University of Kwa Zulu Natal. |

Professional Officer - Ms. Veronica Ngceba
Appointed 1 July 2010
Ms.
Veronica Veliswa Ngceba completed her Basic Nursing at Frere Nursing
College in 1996. She worked as a registered nurse at Nqamakwe and
Empilweni Gompo Helthcare Centres. Ms. Ngceba pursued her studies
and obtained a BA Nursing Degree and Diploma in Psychiatry in 2002 and
2006 respectively.
In
2005 Ms. Ngceba joined Lilitha Nursing College as a Lecturer in Community
Science
In
2009, Ms. Ngceba obtained a Diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing Science
and started lecturing at Post Basic Level (Operating Theatre Nursing
Science) until June 2010.
At SANC Ms.
Ngceba is involved with the accreditation visits of
nursing schools, clinical facilities and evaluation of curricula for
different programmes and approval thereof. |

Professional Officer - Ms. Mercia Tellie
Appointed 1 June 2010
Ms. Mercia Jane Tellie was
appointed as Professional Officer with effect from 1 June 2010. She
completed her Basic Nursing training at the then Nico Malan Nursing
College in Western Cape in 1983. Ms.
Tellie started her professional career as a registered nurse at Grootte
Schuur Hospital. She worked as a nurse educator in the early 1990’s at
S.G. Lourens Nursing College.
Ms Tellie pursued her studies and
obtained a Masters Degree in Advanced Management at the University of
Pretoria in 2004, and currently is studying towards her Ph Degree in
Nursing Science at the University of Pretoria.
Upon her appointment she was
working in the HIV and AIDS field for the last six years at the
Reproductive Health and HIV Research Unit (RHRU) as a Quality Control
Practitioner and a Research Coordinator. |
